Cory began his public accounting career in 2007 and has been dedicated to serving registered and unregistered investment companies. He works with domestic and international equity funds; multi-adviser structured funds; master-feeder funds; currency funds; exchange-traded funds (ETFs); REIT funds; commodity funds, including those investing with a controlled foreign corporation structure; Cayman Islands registered funds and private equity funds. Specifically, his expertise in investment company taxation runs deep, including: income character and distribution issues related to tax-exempt funds; use of derivatives in managing capital gains distributions; complex derivatives, including futures, options and notional principal contracts; U.S. tax reporting for foreign investment structures; tax equalization policies and procedures; ownership changes, mergers and liquidations; mortgage and asset-backed securities; determining optimal year-ends, distribution policies, fund elections and other fund-specific tax matters; documenting and evaluating tax positions; and primary and secondary fund tax reporting.
Cory lives in in Lititz, Pennsylvania, with his wife and their three children. While most of Cory’s free time entails chasing after his kids and keeping up with their activities, he’s also passionate about life-long learning. Cory is always on the hunt for a great new read or podcast.
