David Sobochan, CPA
Principal
As a Principal in the Tax Department, Dave assists individual and business clients in a variety of industries. He focuses on tax planning and tax minimization strategies, including entity, retirement and succession planning; state and local tax issues; and credits and incentives. A member of the firms Real Estate Group, he also specializes in tax planning and reporting, deal analysis, new markets tax credits, historic tax credits, renewable energy credits and incentives, and general business consulting for the real estate industry. Dave also is a leader in the firm's national tax credit advisory and syndication practice.
Dave takes a personal interest in the industries of his clients. He was recognized for his commitment to the real estate industry as the 2010 Member of the Year for the Northern Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). Dave is the immediate past president of Northern Ohio NAIOP and the current president of the Ohio Chapter. He represents his clients interests at the national level by serving on NAIOP Nationals tax and finance committee, which advocates on behalf of the entire real estate industry. Through his widespread participation in NAIOP, Dave plays a significant role in its government affairs programs at the federal, state and local levels. His contributions include establishing NAIOPs government affairs agenda, participating in working groups, reviewing and commenting on proposed legislation, and periodically meeting with members of congress in Washington D.C. and members of the General Assembly in Columbus, Ohio.
Dave is a frequent speaker on issues relating to the real estate industry and has been quoted in a variety of business publications. In addition, he has written for multiple publications, including the American Institute of CPAs Tax Advisor, Properties Magazine, Crains Cleveland Business and The Plain Dealer.
Daves other activities include currently serving as president of the Cleveland State University Alumni Association and member of the CSU Foundation Board. He is active in the Immaculate Conception Church, American Institute of CPAs, Ohio Society of CPAs and Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club. Dave earned his bachelors degree in accounting from Cleveland State University and lives in Mentor, Ohio with his wife and three children, Emma, Becca and Bella.
