Thomas D. Bechtel, CPA Partner Tom is a Partner in our Accounting and Auditing Services Department. He is also Director of the firm's Transaction Services Group, which provides middle market due diligence services for acquiring businesses, private equity and venture capital funds and financing sources. His work with many of the firm's larger service industry and manufacturing clients on a broad range of compliance and consulting services gives him a unique perspective when evaluating potential target companies. Through a structured performance management process, Tom can help clients create improved methods to manage their businesses, increase profits and motivate personnel. In addition, Tom provides guidance in financing alternatives, including many government-supported programs for small businesses. Tom has been active in a number of civic and business organizations including the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE), the Access to Capital initiative, and has been President of the Growth Capital Corporation and Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of Applewood Centers. In addition, Tom has been involved with the Jaycees, Junior Achievement and the fund-raising division of United Way Services. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs. His work and volunteer efforts earned Tom the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) Ohio Financial Services Advocate of the Year honor in 2003. Tom is a 1982 magna cum laude graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, where he was a member of the track and cross country teams. Along with his enjoyment of running, Tom is a diehard sports enthusiast. He and his wife, Becky, and their three daughters, Hallie, Olivia, and Alexandra, reside in Bay Village.
