On September 28, 2006, Ohio's Residential Rental Registration Law went into effect. The new law mandates that all owners of residential rental property file a registration document with the county auditor of the county in which the property is located. This applies to both individual and corporate owners. An owner that fails to comply with the initial information filing and subsequent updates is guilty of a minor misdemeanor, which carries a fine of not more than $150.
